Tokyo Waltz

Appalachia Waltz at Suntory Hall in Japan.

"A charming program...Highly Recommended." MC Journal

TOKYO WALTZ is an intimate behind the scenes film featuring cellist Yo-Yo Ma, acclaimed Nashville fiddler Mark O'Connor, and virtuoso bassist Edgar Meyer preparing and performing their top-of-the-charts "Appalachia Waltz" program at Suntory Hall in Tokyo.

Intercutting sparkling performance footage from Suntory, haunting images from Tokyo, and the (organized) confusion of the preparations for the concert, TOKYO WALTZ is a record of a unique cross-cultural experience -- taking the best of a sophisticated American fusion sound into Suntory Hall, the bastion of classical music in Asia.

Reviews
"More than just a concert video. It juxtaposes haunting images of Tokyo with music from the concert...A charming program that gives valuable insight into how concert musicians interact...I was personally so taken with the music from the video that I bought the Appalachia Waltz CD. Highly Recommended."
